Alarm date and time
You can choose the alarm to sound once or to sound it periodically. For each
option, different settings can be specified.
Add
The 'add'-option is a setting which can be used with all of the above options.
It is meant to be used for the following purposes:
- If you want to make a correction to the specified date. For example: you
want an alarm to go off 3 days before the end of each month. Make the alarm
sound periodically, set the period to 1 month, set the 'Include' date to the
first of the month, and set the 'add'-option to -4 days (4 days before the
first of the next month).
- If you want an alarm to sound after a certain amount of time from now. Set
the 'once' date to the current time and specify the amount of time to add.
- If you have an alarm group with birthday alarms, you can set the date to
the date of the persons birthday. Of course, you'll want to be warned before
the person's birthday, so you set the 'add'-option to -1 day. If you later
decide you want to be warned 3 days in advance, all you have to do is select
all birthday alarms, choose 'properties...'
from the 'alarm' menu, set the 'add'-option to -3 days and click 'Ok'.
Note that the 'add'-controls do not affect the specified period (between ...
and ...) in which a periodical alarm is active.
